Bureaucrats Blocking Progress in New Orleans

posted Sunday, 11 September 2005
The Democratic regime in Louisiana is making it mighty hard for relief efforts to be effective. Here is one story reported at Hannity.com:

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 11:52 p.m. EDT - Newsmax

Gov. Kathleen Blanco's Bureaucrats Blocked Food and Water

The Red Cross was reportedly ready to deliver food, water and other supplies
to flood-ravaged refugees who were sweltering inside New Orleans' Superdome last
week - but the relief was blocked by bureaucrats who worked for Louisiana Gov.
Kathleen Blanco.

Fox News Channel's Major Garrett reported Wednesday that the Red Cross had
"trucks with water, food, hygiene equipment, all sorts of things ready to go ...
to the Superdome and Convention Center."

But the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, Garrett said, "told them they could not go."

"The Red Cross tells me that Louisiana's Department of Homeland Security
said, 'Look, we do not want to create a magnet for more people to come to the
Superdome or Convention Center, we want to get them out,'" he explained.

"So at the same time local officials were screaming where is the food, where
is the water, the Red Cross was standing by ready [and] the Louisiana Department
of Homeland Security said you can't go."

The State of Louisiana should have been able to handle this disaster on their own. It's been obvious for years that this would happen one day, but they and FEMA seem to have been caught completely unprepared and without competent leadership to quickly deliver help. Are these the people that we can trust when serious terrorist strikes hit our cities?

Be prepared. Have food, water, clothing, 72-hour kits, etc., ready to be used in emergencies like this. Don't expect the government to be there for you.

1. Grant us Serenity left...
Wednesday, 9 November 2005 6:03 am

I don't know how I got here, but I almost wish that I didn't find it. It hurt so much to know that I have been blind. I live in Sacramento, California and I am afraid to tell people I am Hmong. I'm afraid of being stereotyped as a child of a savage. The media covered this story/case so well that even I started pondering if I really belonged here in the US. You know what...I do. My grandfather, dad, uncles...all the elder men in my life, assisted the CIA in Vietnam that probably saved many other lives. Because it is the past, It doesn't matter anymore? I want the nation to know that my people sacraficed for this country and deserve to be here. What is "American"? Yes, we immigrated after the war...what about everyone else...(no offense...but to prove a point) Where can they trace their roots too? I do believe strongly that our people need to take the opprtunities available to them to educate themselves about abiding by laws, at least being fluent in English, and how to make our presence here in the US...good. Before I go, I want to state that I feel pain, sympathy for those whose lives are affected by the hunter murders.

In times like these, I can turn to my faith and belief in the good in man kind. I will not be distracted by the miseducation of others.

Brain Food: Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.

Thanks Jeff, I may never know if your site did good or bad for my people, but know that you give me, and others, reason to have faith in ourselves, our people, and the nation.

I would also like to thank those who made comments...May God be with you. Our parents may not know how to live and adapt to this ever changing American Culture, but we, the next generation, are different and have made our presence here count. Look for the good in us as we in you.
