Bush's Accountant to Replace Alan Greenspan?

posted Wednesday, 12 October 2005
White House sources today leaked information indicating that Jerry Kleinkopf, the CPA who has served as President Bush's tax accountant for the past 10 years, will be named to replace Alan Greenspan as Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank when Greenspan retires. While President Bush has refused to confirm or deny the rumor, he did tell reporters that "I can't think of a better person than Jerry for the world's most powerful position. The guy is a whiz with math and taxes - he's saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars! He's loyal. He's a great fisherman. Loves Texas. Makes a great steak. And I trust him. So he'd certainly make a good candidate, but it's too early to talk any more about that. Just trust me - you know I'll only appoint the most qualified candidates possible for any positions that become available."

The world is certainly a better place due to Ben Bernanke's leadership of the Federal Reserve. Still, it will take him years to achieve the same level of respect in the business community that Alan Greenspan developed.
