An unfortunate typo has distorted Dan Rather's confession today. New sources such as The San Francisco Chronicle are quoting Dan Rather's statement on his use of forged documents as follows:
"It was an error that was made, however, in good faith and in the spirit of trying to carry on a CBS News tradition of investigative reporting without fear or favoritism."
However, high-placed sources with just as much integrity as Dan Rather himself have informed me that the actual quote differs only by one letter from what the biased media has printed:
"It was an error that was made, however, in good faith and in the spirit of trying to carry on a CBS News tradition of investigative reporting without fear of favoritism."
The rest of Rather's statement also appears to be missing from major news sources. Thank goodness for us bloggers in pajamas:
"Until now, CBS has never had any fear of favoritism. In fact, we boldly embraced favoritism to give our audience the views we think they need to have. And it was working so well until those bloggers - those losers in pajamas - came along and pursued the politics of fear."
Keep those pajamas on, bloggers!
