Global Warming and Increasing Disasters?

posted Wednesday, 12 January 2005

Nice to see a little sanity about the weather in Dennis Avery's article, "Don't Blame Global Warming."

Meanwhile, the renowned scientist, Kofi Annan, has pointed out that the destruction of the tsunami is just like the destruction global warming will cause.

From the science magazine, New Scientist: "According to the Topex data, global average sea level rose by 2.8 millimetres a year between 1993 and 2002." Over the past decade, that's almost a total of 3 centimeters (a little over an inch!). Over the coming decades, it could get even worse, if the trend continues. Five centimeters, ten centimeters, maybe even fifteen centimeters - who knows how much the oceans could eventually rise? In any case, those several centimeters of water, gradually inching their way up the shores of the world, could basically wipe out all life on islands and coastal cities. Just like the recent tsunami. You saw the photos. You know how bad it can be. That's what global warming is going to do to you, unless we shut down the United States and quit letting non-Marxist nations use energy. More funding to the United Nations will help, especially since Annan's oil-for-food program isn't quite as profitable as it used to be.

The global warming tsunami is coming. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

3 millimeters is an exponential increase over past decades. Continued exponential increases, which are inevitable if we continue driving tanks to the mall, will reap disastrous consequences.

Not a believer in this at all - give me one "global warming project" that can predict reasonably accurately the next 10 years (they havent done it for the past 10) and it might peak my interest, otherwise its just panic journalism.

I think we should destroy or reduce the use of coal mineing and shut down One Half of the worlds factory's that can release toxic fumes, smoke, carbon dioxide. & other things to make global warming worse!
