Americans are waking up to the threat of porous borders. If terrorists can just walk across the border with little risk of being stopped, why are we letting Americans die on the other side of the world in the name of fighting a war on terrorism? Get our soldiers back here to protect our borders! But the government has ignored the problem so much that patriotic American citizens (the "Minutemen") have started volunteering their time to fill in the gap, acting as living sensors to alert the Border Patrol about illegal crossings. It's had a tremendous deterrent effect in parts of Arizona, reducing illegal crossings and even drug deliveries across the border. It's driving the ACLU insane with anger, so it must be something wholesome. By why is the border so open that private citizens have to band together to help flood the tide of illegal entry?
Hello, Washington! If we're at war with foreign powers that want to send people here to hurt us, as they did on 9/11, don't you think we should keep illegal immigrants from walking across the border? All it takes is a few hundred fanatic terrorists among the hundreds of thousands of "nicer" illegal aliens to put millions of Americans at risk. What excuse do we have for ignoring our borders in a supposed time of war? President Bush, however, has condemned the patriots trying to help the Border Patrol, calling them vigilantes, while the illegals who enter he calls "guest workers." Many may come here just to work, but there is also a huge problem with crime. One third of the felons in US prisons are illegal immigrants. Much of the drug trade across the border is based on illegal entry. And of course, there are terrorists out there....
In spite of the public outcry, President Bush must have some kind of deal with President Fox of Mexico, for he seems to be working overtime to keep Mexico happy and to allow them to send a flood if illegal aliens into our country. Mexico, with its vast oil supplies, could become a prosperous nation if it were not for the corruption of their government. They could be a wealthy nation if freed from the burden of tyranny. Yes, I can understand why Mexicans would want to get out. As one small example, the oppressed Mexican people are burdened with a socialist government that allows there to be only one state-owned gasoline distributor, Pemex, and they charge US$4 per gallon! Toll roads around Mexico city are several times more expensive that toll roads in the states - you pay US$3 or $4 a pop and can go through a lot of money just to get to the outskirts of town and back, as we experienced in a taxi a couple weeks ago.
President Bush's betrayal of Americas borders and his siding with those who break the law will hurt the Republican party for years to come - which is fine with me. If he and his party won't protect our nation, let's turn to someone else.... Ah, but who?
Any patriotic politicians out there?
patriotic politician = Ron Paul.
"by their fruits" liar = GWB
