No Property Rights? Federal Government Claims Power to Seize Anything?

A recent letter from the US Dept. of the Treasury confirmed the Federal Government's belief that it has the legal power to seize almost any asset if there is a national emergency. Amazing. Seems like there is almost nothing left of American liberty anymore - property rights could be meaningless. Is this the kind of government our Founding Fathers fought for?
