GoldCorp (GG) is one of the world's largest gold producers. What many people don't realize is how low their cost of gold production is - around $150/once, compared to about twice that for other major producers like Newmont. GoldCorp is focused on gold production from high-quality sites in the Americas. For details, see their investor's day presentation (http://www.goldcorp.com/_resources/presentations/archived/07-04-12-G-Investor-day.pdf). They stock has been held back, in my opinion, by an unwise decision to purchase Glamis Gold for too much without a shareholder vote. But the company is moving past that mistake, and I expect better from the current management team. Thus, GoldCorp is now at a discount relative to other gold producers and makes an attractive buy for a relatively safe investment with large growth potential. The growth comes not only from the likelihood that gold will greatly increase in price, but also from their commitment to increased exploration on the properties they control, which could really pay off.
Goodluck with it, but dilution is killing Goldcorp and I do not think the
pain is over. Check out my blog and you will see what I mean.
