John Kerry did his best to keep his war journal secret, falsely telling us that the deal with his biographer prevented him from disclosing it. When his biographer said this was untrue, Kerry still refused to release his journal before the election. Now we know why. His journal actually says that he met North Vietnames "terrorists" - that's the word he used. And it's not just a wacko story from us bloggers - it's being reported by Newsweek.
You can read the story online in a couple of places (but don't expect to hear much about it from Kerry or Dan Rather):
Kerry asked America to trust him as the new Commander in Chief to protect us from terrorists, who tend to be radical Marxists who get a lot of support from the likes of Communist China and other totalitarian states. Yet he came back from the war and denounced America, secretly met with our Communist enemies in Paris, and got recognized for his treasonous efforts by being honored in a North Vietnamese war museum as a war hero (for the Communists).
Apart from being utterly untrustworthy and unworthy of the honor of leadership, his anti-American pro-enemy activities with the North Vietnamese thugs (whom even he recognized as "terrorists") demands more than mere outrage from Americans. It demands trial for treason, in my opinion.
Both Democrats and Republicans should now be able to agree that John Kerry was unfit for duty and should be ousted from any position of trust. Ironically, the bombshell revelation in his war journal may be able to achieve a stated goal of Kerry that he and the Democrats could never have reached otherwise: bringing America together.
