Never has the moral bankruptcy of the mainstream media been more evident that in the appalling depiction of Yasser Arafat as a respectable "statesman." The American press has gushed warmly over their fallen compatriot, almost never reminding us of his bloody legacy. He is the epitome of radical anti-Semitism, father of modern terrorism, the man responsible for the deliberate slaughter of children and their mothers, the man who has lived in luxury and wealth while sending children to blow themselves up, the man who has been the main obstacle to hope and peace for his people, refusing every concession from other leaders, insisting on nothing but violence and the utter destruction of Jews in his land. He masterminded bloody assaults on Americans as well as people of numerous other nations. Trained by the KGB and schooled in the art of terror, he has pursued policies aimed at his glorification and power, not the peace of the Middle East. How dare we honor him, how dare we rewrite his history without mentioning his fundamental achievements: terror, murder, bloodshed, hate, and anti-Semitism? The terrorism he has spawned is why we are at war today.
Is the media unable to recognize evil? Is there so little decency among journalists that a true enemy of America and of all decent people would be so praised and esteemed? His trail of terror must not be forgotten.
