The Drudge Report says that Kerry is considering Hillary Clinton as his running mate. I'm sure he is, but will Hillary comply? Insiders admit that President Bush is also vying for Hillary's favors, and hopes that having Hillary as a running mate will bring in badly needed votes. No wonder he has publicly praised Bill and Hillary Clinton as outstanding Americans and good parents. And to show Hillary he is worthy, he has asked for an increase of $18 million for the far-left National Endowment for the Arts - its largest spending increase in 20 years. He has proposed border policies for Mexico that are far more liberal than anything Bill Clinton was able to achieve, allowing illegal immigrants (who tend to vote for Democrats) to have easier access to the US than ever before, in spite of an alleged war against the United States that would normally demand increased border security). And he even welcomed and praised Hillary's spiritual and cultural advisor, Ozzie Osborne, in the White House. But will this be enough to please Hillary? Sure, as long as Bush leads in the polls.
"We cannot commit to any one candidate at this time," Hillary's spokesman said during a recent luncheon. "We need to take a cold, hard look at the polls, at the trends, at what the American people want." Hillary may postpone the decision until the day of the election, or shortly thereafter, but one thing is clear: she's going to be Vice President. Just a heartbeat away from what she really wants. Just a heartbeat. Bad news for Bush or Kerry: America's new V.P. may well prove to be a real heartbreaker.
Stay tuned....
