The highly respected journal Nature ran a shocking story on August 19: "Tiniest Baby Thrives as Teenager." In 1989, a record-breaking baby was delivered after only 27 weeks of pregnancy, 13 weeks shorter than normal. She weighed only 280 grams - a little more than half a pound. Babies so extremely premature face many challenges, but this baby, named Madeline, is now "remarkably healthy" and is scoring in the top 20% for high school entrance exams. The story in Nature is actualy based on a report in the equally esteemed New England Journal of Medicine. Another story shows photos of her as a premi and as the healthy and marvelous young woman she is now.
Of course, this is awful and irresponsible news that needs to be kept from the minds of ordinary citizens. Madeline, you see, was born at about the same stage in development that some abortions are performed, especially partial birth abortions. If that "mass of cells" that is being "removed" in abortions actually might be a human being that could survive and grow up to be a smart and healthy teenager, then those getting abortions might feel unnecessary remorse, and might think about letting the baby simply be delivered and put up for adoption. NO! Such knowledge might, in the words of the abortion lobby, "interfere with a woman's right to obtain an abortion." It's the same reason that the abortion lobby resists any kind of requirements that abortion patients be warned of side effects, or that children get parental approval before going through the procedure. The truth might dissuade women from getting an abortion.
They are right: the truth would make most people seek alternatives to abortion.
Madeline, born at 27 weeks and weighing less than a can of soda, is now a vibrant and, yes, viable human being. Please don't let the word get it.
Now who said that god can't work a miracle. When people say that something
can't be done god turn around and does the impossible. So next time u see
something and say that it can't be done remember this miracle and think
again
