San Francisco: Where Intolerance Reigns

posted Tuesday, 15 February 2005
San Francisco, the city that prides itself on its tolerance when it comes to perversion, is actually the epitome of nastiness when it comes to facing actual diversity in thought. Witness the organized hostilities and nearly riotous opposition San Franciscan crowds offered on January 22nd against a peaceful gathering of families marching for the pro-life cause. This divergent viewpoint, the idea that life is sacred and that innocents should not be slaughtered, was so threatening to San Francisco's tolerant elite that they came out en masse, instigated by their own civic leaders, to shout down and harrass the pro-lifers. At one point, the hostile anti-life crowd blocked the street that the marchers were coming down and refused to obey the police order to clear out of the way. It appeared that a riot was about to break out, but the pro-life leaders quickly diverted their group down an alternate path and avoided confrontation.

The best account of the march and the radical antics of S.F.'s leaders and tolerance gestapo is found in William Jasper's on-the-scene account, "The Brutal Face of 'Tolerance'" in The New American, Feb. 21, 2005, pp. 24-27. Other wothwhile stories online include articles in The Catholic World News and even the liberal San Francisco Chronicle. Before the march, the local news digest, SFist, presciently noted that with all the planned opposition, it "Sounds like this could all end in some West-Side Story-like rumble." Yea, I think that was the plan.

I guess the people in S.F. associate the pro-life movement with the so-called "right wingers" who vilify homosexuals as the cause of all that's wrong with the USA. More middle of the road folks who are against abortion should be more supportive of the right to life movement, as I'm sure there are liberals in S.F. who would find abortion wrong, especially the 2nd tri-mester abortions when the "doctor" is actually murdering a fully formed 2 pound baby. While one is free to be against homosexual conduct on moral or religious grounds, to attack adults for what they do in private is not something Jesus would advocate, just like he would be against killing babies.
